New Partnership Aims to Nurture Young Talent and Strengthen Morocco’s Digital Economy
Rabat – In a significant move to enhance Morocco’s digital landscape, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform has signed a partnership with the Research, Development, and Innovation Foundation in Science and Engineering (FRDISI). This collaboration aims to advance research and innovation in the digital sector, aligning with King Mohammed VI’s vision for a skilled workforce and a culture of innovation.
The agreement, signed by Ghita Mezour, Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, and Andre Azoulay, Chairman of FRDISI, focuses on supporting doctoral thesis projects in digital fields. Under this initiative, 18 doctoral students will receive monthly scholarships of 7,000 dirhams over a three-year period, along with ongoing guidance to foster groundbreaking research.
By promoting collaboration with stakeholders and encouraging the youth to engage in future digital professions, the partnership seeks to address Morocco’s digital skills gap. The initiative is a key step in increasing the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector’s contribution to the national GDP, aiming to raise it from 3% to 11% and create 125,000 new jobs.
This strategic effort reflects Morocco’s commitment to positioning itself as a hub for digital innovation, supporting King Mohammed VI’s broader goals for economic and technological progress.
