Rabat – NamX, a forward-thinking startup specializing in hydrogen technology, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing an international patent for its innovative dual-tank hydrogen capsule system. This groundbreaking achievement was announced by NamX CEO and Founder Faouzi Annajah, a Moroccan-French businessman, on Thursday.
The patent, officially numbered W0 2023/203114 A1, signifies a significant step forward for NamX. Annajah expressed his delight on X, stating, “It’s been a long process, and we’re delighted to announce that the patent application for the hydrogen capsules has been recognized internationally under number W0 2023/203114 A1.”
Revolutionizing Hydrogen Storage
First introduced at the 2022 Mondial de l’Automobile, the hydrogen capsule system has garnered widespread attention for its novel approach to hydrogen storage. The system features removable tube-shaped tanks that can be easily inserted into designated slots at the rear of the vehicle, offering a practical and innovative solution to current hydrogen storage challenges. This concept, similar to ideas explored by companies like Aaqius and Toyota, aims to make hydrogen usage more accessible and convenient.
Filing and Development
The patent was filed in April 2023 with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and was officially published in October 2023. Developed with the assistance of the Ipaz organization, the hydrogen capsule system is designed to address the current lack of hydrogen refueling infrastructure. According to Annajah, “Our mission is to democratize hydrogen for consumers, and thanks to innovation, we’re going to get there.”
Practical and Convenient Solution
NamX’s innovative capsules provide an alternative to traditional hydrogen refueling stations, enabling quick and convenient hydrogen refills. This system eliminates the need for conventional hydrogen stations, making it easier for consumers to adopt hydrogen-powered vehicles. The NamX SUV is also equipped with a traditional fuel tank, enhancing its versatility and appeal.
Acknowledging Team Efforts
Annajah acknowledged the contributions of his talented team and the support from Ipaz, the “innovation protection experts” who have been collaborating with NamX since 2021. Their combined efforts have been instrumental in bringing this innovative technology to fruition.
Looking Ahead
The next stage for NamX is an industrial demonstration scheduled for 2025. This phase will be crucial in showcasing the practical applications and benefits of the hydrogen capsule system on a larger scale.
Innovative Leadership
In addition to his achievements with NamX, Faouzi Annajah co-created the world’s first car partially powered by a patented removable hydrogen tank system. He presented a model of the first Moroccan car brand and a hydrogen-powered vehicle prototype to King Mohammed VI in May 2023, further cementing his role as a pioneer in the field of hydrogen technology.
NamX’s innovative approach to hydrogen storage and refueling represents a significant advancement in the pursuit of sustainable and accessible clean energy solutions. As the company moves forward, it continues to pave the way for the widespread adoption of hydrogen technology.
